Simply the B.E.S.T.

Leon County Schools, in partnership with FSU's Department of Educational Leadership and Policy Studies, is providing an opportunity for K-12 Math and ELA educators, school administrators, and educational leadership graduate students to deepen their knowledge regarding the implementation of Florida's new Benchmarks for Excellent Student Thinking (B.E.S.T. standards) at the summer Simply the B.E.S.T. Conference. Through several tracks of rotating session offerings, experts in the content areas will present information on pedagogical shifts, instructional strategies, instructional materials, and leadership priorities and needs related to standards implementation. We will offer two 2-day sessions in the Summer of 2022 (May 31-June 1 & June 28-29). The conference aims to serve over 1,000 LCS educators and administrators with 5% of these seats being reserved for graduate students from FSU’s Department of Educational Leadership and Policy Studies. Most importantly, the district's goal is to focus on new standards implementation while creating an exciting atmosphere in a conference style setting that honors the joys and realities of an educator's career. In addition to a conference style setting, the opportunity for graduate students, local administrators, district leaders, and classroom teachers to learn simultaneously, and the selection of a variety of breakout topics that can be personalized to fit the role of each participant, we hope to add excitement through a vendors and exhibitors hall and fun and unique dining options.

Each day, we will have approximately 10 local food trucks on site to serve lunch in addition to the variety of dining options available in the beautiful Gaines street/downtown Tallahassee area.
