My mother was a teacher, and I was always inspired by her ability to make a positive difference in her students’ lives. She always found a way to make learning more engaging and interactive for her students, which left them eager to learn. I always knew I wanted to be able to have that kind of impact on people’s lives.
After earning my undergraduate degree from FSU, I knew I wanted to continue on and complete my graduate degree – eventually discovering the Instructional Systems and Learning Technologies program. The experience was even better than I expected. My graduate program had small classes which allowed me to have specialized time with my professors. I loved that the professors pushed me out of my comfort zone to become better within the field. The professors are the reason that this college is so great. If it hadn’t been for them, I would not have my career as an instructional designer, and would not have the opportunities to make learning more meaningful and engaging for others.
To those of you considering the FSU College of Education, it’s a decision you will never regret. This will be your new home away from home. And when it comes time to part with Florida State University, you will leave a piece of your heart behind. Everyone here is so warm, supportive, inviting, and brings something unique to the table. It’s great to be a part of.
