I started at FSU as a Graphic Arts major but quickly felt that something was missing for me. I grew up watching and attending sports events, so when I heard about the Sport Management major, something immediately sparked for me. I discovered there were so many opportunities and careers within the sporting industry.
This major allows me to do all of the things I have an interest in – graphic design, event management, marketing and stadium operations – for any sports team or company. It is all of my interests rolled up into one. I am learning about the operational side of the industry and it’s fantastic!
Where else could someone have the opportunities I’ve had? I’ve worked with ESPN Gameday, interned at the first College Football Playoff National Championship game, did graphic design for the Bluefield Blue Jays, and more. Being exposed to a wide range of opportunities is allowing me to gain practical experience and zero in on what I want for my future.
With all of the hands-on educational and internship opportunities provided by FSU and the College of Education, I am ready to make an immediate impact when I graduate. Whether it’s with a major sports franchise, a manufacturer, or my own business, I feel my Sport Management major has prepared me very well.
